As you will have noted from our extensive press-notices overleaf, our principal area of expertise is Entertainment Law and the allied fields of business affairs and management consultancy. Whilst we have a particular emphasis on - and virtually unparalleled experience in - the Music Industry, we also cater for a broad spectrum of other branches of the Entertainment Industry including films, video, television, theatre, book publishing, art, modelling and sport.
The services offered by Entertainment Law Associates encompass - inter alia - the following:
External ‘in house’ Business Affairs services.
Specialist advice relating to Entertainment Industry contracts.
Specialist advice relating to the protection and enforcement of copyrights.
UK and International Deal-Shopping / Contract Brokering services.
UK and International civil litigation management and support services.
UK and International royalty auditing.
UK and International trademark services.
UK and International company formations and administration.
Specialist Entertainment industry management consultancy services.
All too often in the Entertainment Industry, contracts and other long-term commitments are entered into by individuals and even companies, without specialist advice or knowledge of what is
standard practice in a particular field : the result - most usually a
one-sided contract - can often lead to disastrous consequences, and ultimately the vast expense of civil litigation. So it pays not to indulge in short-term thinking and false economies. Not only this, but an artist or celebrity (or again even a corporate entity) can very often - in the absence of specialist knowledge or advice - under-sell themselves in contractual and other forms of negotiation ; whereas by having proper representation the full worth of their copyrights, talents or services can be both realised and maximised.
ELA is not a law firm (and indeed it must be emphasised that we are not practising solicitors) : ELA is a limited company comprising a team of legally trained Business Affairs & Management Consultants, which draws upon its collective and extensive Entertainment Industry experience to offer a unique service. As a result, we are able to offer clients the business and commercial services provided by management and consultancy companies, with the expertise and specialist advice customarily provided by Entertainment Industry law firms.
In addition to its inherent in-house strength, ELA is also associated - by virtue of its continuous business dealings - with specific firms of UK solicitors, US attorneys, International lawyers and specialist royalty and tax accountants, all of whom are available to ELA's clients to undertake work on their behalf under direct instruction from ELA.
